Here's a short piece on the do's and dont's of modeling, or rather some basic tips on how to model to the best of your abilities, and make the best out of your shootings. This advice is coming from the perspective of a portrait photographer, who has dealt closely with models of all types (amateur, professional), and who has seen the good and the bad.
DO: Look at yourself in a mirror, study your features, try different expressions, model poses for yourself. As silly as it may seem, it helps. It helps for you to see what you look like, what works for your face and body, and what does not. Practicing in front of the camera is great, but you don't need to necessarily be in a shoot to practice. A lot can be done beforehand with simple things like this.
DO: Take care of your body as well as you can. And by this I do not mean, go on crazy diets or anything of the sort. But eat healthy, take care of your skin, your nails,
